Real Talk: Social Media, AI and You

Workshop for children and young people

Social media and AI are changing how young people learn, communicate, and perceive themselves. Many teenagers navigate daily between digital exchange, information overload, and social comparison – often without sufficient guidance.

This workshop series goes beyond traditional media literacy. It supports students in better understanding their digital world, reflecting on it critically, and shaping it autonomously.

The central questions are: Who am I? What is real? And what value do I have as a human being in a world full of likes, algorithms, and AI?

Participants develop orientation, self-confidence and a reflective approach to digital technologies – skills that are becoming more important than ever in the AI age.

Workshop Highlights

How does my digital world work?

How do algorithms, social media, and AI influence what we see, think, and perceive?

What is actually real?

How is content on social media created? How can we distinguish reality from staged content and AI-generated media?

How does this affect me?

What impact do social media, likes, and digital technologies have on our attention, self-esteem, and behaviour?

Who am I in this world?

How do we develop identity, values, and self-confidence in a world shaped by comparison, avatars, and algorithms?

How do I want to navigate this world?

How can we use social media and AI consciously without allowing them to control us?
